Learning outcomes

This course is designed to provide increased understanding about food hygiene. The course includes information and advice to employees on the health and safety issues concerning food hygiene and the requirements and standards in respect of their own individual workplaces. Candidates who are successful in the end of course assessment will receive a Harrow council certificate in Food Hygiene and Safety.

On completion of this course, learners will:

  • Understand what the law says regarding food hygiene
  • Have an awareness of the main principles of HACCP
  • Recognise food safety hazards
  • Know what is meant by the 4 C's (cooking, cleaning, cross contamination and chilling)
  • Understand the specific requirements in respect of their own business
